My date with Summer.

Dear Diary,

For my birthday (Yikes- June 9th) Brooks is taking a mindful class with me (it's my second time!) and one of our daily assignments this week is to write about a pleasant event each day and keep a gratitude journal. Today this is mine. I title my event: A DATE WITH SUMMER AND MY LITTLE MAN. 

Today I felt like gardening. Nixon wanted to help.

He also wanted to try out our new hose. 

Mommy had to help a little bit. 

Time to turn it down

Not happy about this.

Today:

I saw: a beautiful sunny day

I touched: dirt between my fingers

I tasted: water from a garden hose

I smelled: sunblock on my cheeks

I felt: joy in my heart that summer is here.

Although Nixon was a bit sad to have to go inside, we treated ourselves to an orange Otterpop- that can always make things better. Ahhhh what a refreshing summer day- mud, water and all.

* the slobbery kiss Nixon gave me after I gave him one.

* the tomato plants we planted in the earth.

* the sound of the birds singing in the morning.

* the smell of sunblock as we lathered it into our skin.

* the amazing husband I have who comes to a mindfulness class with me.

Dear Diary,
I have been a little M.I.A. around here for the last few days. I'm busy playing mom, hostess, photographer, counselor, and big sister these days. 


I am loving having my sister B out here to visit. She is amazing. Today we had the most amazing (and jammed packed) day shopping at vintage shops, choosing outfits, and shooting her photo shoot for her new album. 


Speaking of a photo shoot- B took some family photos of us... I couldn't wait to post a sneak peek of one of them now.


Finally! I have some photos we can put on our wall of all of us in it- yes we all have mustaches...and I love it! It's a photo with us three together- nothing is better! Thanks B.

"Familysick"

Dear Diary,

Today I am feeling homesick. How can I feel homesick? I am home? Maybe it is more like familysick? My family seems to be SO far away, and today I am missing them. I miss the moments of talking and laughing with one another and just being together.  Why do you guys have to be scattered across the globe living in places such as Miami,  Dominican Republic, New York, Logan, Salt Lake City, El Salvador, Mexico City…why so far?

This July, we went on a cruise and were able to stop in Miami and visit my family. Nixon had such a blast being kissed and cuddled by these women! It was cute to see the love they had for Nixon.

Awww I miss you Mami, Mama Gloria, Mari, and Manu. Let’s get together again soon!

Dear Diary,

Why do I love my family so much? It's early morning on a Memorial Day and I can't seem to bring myself to fall back asleep...you see I am afraid I am going to miss it. Miss what? Miss out on THIS moment. So, I lay AWAKE staring and watching taking it all in(sorta stalkerish I know)- I get up and take a picture so this moment can last forever. Aw perfect...now I think I am going to crawl back into bed under the warm sheets and cuddle with my family. I love these two more than words can describe.
